Pet Day

Senior boys' writing group —

The senior boys' writing group wrote about some of the Pet Day scenes:

Cory Schlaadt: Today it was pet day. The sky was blue and the Port Hills were looking beautiful as usual. In the school long jump pit there were no athletes, but there were 2 goats! Billy is looking a lot bigger than Gruff. Billy has an awesome beard and is the biggest goat I’ve ever seen. Gruff is a lot smaller but is very cute. No one knows who is the boss but Gruff has horns and Billy doesn't. They are not running away because Billy has a chain around his neck and Gruff has a small cool orange lead round his neck.

Campbell: On a sunny day in the port hills, the blue sky is clear but trees are providing shade for the people watching. Port Hills  glisten in the hot morning sun and people cower under the shade. Both goats standing are in the long jump pit, usually reserved for long jumpers. The goats are sniffing each other's noses. Billy the Big white goat is saying “I'm bigger than you!” But Gruffy says, "You may be bigger than me but I can headbutt you, you have no horns!” Fortunately they decided to be friends and minutes later they are happily chewing the same tree, side by side.

Otis Swallow: You can just see the sunny blue skies peeking over the fence and shining on to the grass. The boys, with massive grins on their faces, are patting the lambs. The white fluffy lambs are nibbling the grass. They have bright red collars that stand out on the snow-white fur. They look happy. The lush green grass glistens in the sunlight making it more appetising for the lambs. Pet Day at Diamond Harbour is always good fun!
