FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Jill Pears —

Tena koutou nga whanau, nga mihi nui ki a koutou katoa,                                                              Thank you to everyone - students, teachers and whānau for a fabulous first term of 2017. Week 9 saw the year 7 and 8 students attend Hanmer Camp and have a fabulous time. Thank you to Fiona and Catherine for their organisation of this event.

Thank you also to the large number of parents who helped to make this camp the success it was. We greatly appreciate the support as we would not be able to run these events without such generous support.

Make sure you visit Linc-Ed to see your children’s Learning Stories and to give a glimpse of what they have been doing in class. These Learning Stories are a great starting point for discussions about their learning. Students who have their 20 week, 40 week, 60 week, 80 week, 100 week and 120 week reports due end of Term 1 will also have a national standard report. If you are unsure how to access any aspect of Linc-Ed pop in and see your child’s classroom teachers and they will be able to support you. Your username will generally be your email and if you can’t remember your password, there is a link to request a new password.

Thank you to the parents who attended our Parent Education sessions this week about Linc-Ed and Google Apps for Education. If you have any further questions, either about how this is currently used in the senior area of the school, or how your child may use this in the future, don’t hesitate to ask your child’s teacher. Diamond Harbour School also has a current BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy and if you are interested in more information about purchasing a student-owned device for your child to use at school don’t hesitate to ask.

Stay dry over the next few days, have a fabulous Easter break and enjoy some holiday time with family and friends.

Ngā mihi nui,

Jill
