Diamond Harbour Waterways Cleanup and Community Hāngi

Wednesday Week 1 of Term 4 is our waterways cleanup and community hāngi.

A cleanup of our waterways is scheduled for Wednesday 16th October. The day will finish up with a hāngi. The senior taiaha group have taken on the leadership of the hāngi under the guidance of Manaia.

Firewood:

We do require kanuka and manuka firewood for the hāngi. Please email karen.coom@diamondharbour.school.nz  if you can help with this.

Seafood:

Any donations of mussels and other seafood would be greatly appreciated.

Parent help:

Parent help is required for all year levels. Please advise your child's classroom teacher if you can assist.  It will be a great day and a lot of fun.

Waterways to be covered:

Hay’s Bay :

Te Kōhanga and Kindy will be travelling by private vehicle and parent help will be required for this. Please email karen.coom@diamondharbour.school.nz  if you are able to assist Te Kōhanga with this.

Purau Beach: Years 3/4/5

A bus will transport these students. Parent help is required for beach supervision.

Years 6/7/8: Starting opposite the Charteris Bay Golf club and covering the beachfront, meeting Te Kōhanga at Hays Bay.

Transport:

Year 3 - 8 students will be transported by bus. Parent help is also required for supervision.

Cost:

Costs for travel and hāngī for year 3 - 8 is $10.00; year 1-2 $6.00. This will be added to your student account.
