Food Fairy Fun Run 2021 - Can you help?

Lizzy Laing —

Are you available to help with marshalling our Food Fairy Fun Run? Part of the track for the middle and senior school runs down Marine Drive and up Hunters Road so we require some volunteers to monitor and assist runners in this area.

On Tuesday, May 18th 2021, Diamond Harbour School will be hosting the Food Fairy Fun Run event with the purpose of collecting food donations for The Salvation Army. Our students will each run laps of a track and are asking for donations of non-perishable food, sanitary items and general household goods to be donated per lap that they run or walk within an hour.

Are you available to help with marshalling our Food Fairy Fun Run? Part of the track for the middle and senior school runs down Marine Drive and up Hunters Road so we require some volunteers to monitor and assist runners in this area. You will be required at school from 1.30 pm to 3:00 pm on Tuesday. If you are able to help please email Lizzy, it would be helpful to advise if you have a current First Aid certificate lizzy.laing@diamondharbour.school.nz

Students have already received their sponsorship forms and are looking for sponsors to pledge items for their run. As a sponsor, you can pledge as many items as you would like per lap, and there is an option to cap the items at a certain amount. Please note, donations will be collected in the week after the run and the donation will be presented to The Salvation Army at the following assembly.

This event provides an opportunity for our students to demonstrate their school values of Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga and Hauora to our wider community and can be added to their “Giving to Others” Diamond Challenge. As this is our alternative to the Cross Country, any students interested in competing at the South East Zones Cross Country on Tuesday, May 25th, are being encouraged to train as they normally would. Winning runners from year 5 and up will be considered for Zone’s entry.

Students are encouraged to dress up as “Food Fairies” in their house colours for the run. There will be spot prizes up for grabs and the house that runs the most laps will be awarded the Food Fairy Trophy!!

If you have any questions or queries regarding this event please don't hesitate to flick Lizzy an email.
