Eco-travel Options
Reducing unnecessary business-related travel and promoting virtual meetings can lead to cost savings, increased productivity, and a reduced environmental footprint.
We all did the 'zoom' thing over the Covid lockdown period and for many, this has continued with the opportunity to work remotely and attend meetings virtually.
For some, this doesn't work and having the option to travel again is welcomed. Now that we have choices we can opt not to travel and do business virtually.
Our Tips;
Assess Travel Needs:
Evaluate the necessity of each business trip. Determine if the meeting or event could be accomplished through virtual means without compromising objectives. So many meetings do offer a virtual option.
Get the right tech.
You so need to have the right tech for virtual meetings to be successful. Ensure that employees have access to reliable video conferencing platforms and provide training on how to use them effectively.
We jump from Zoom to Teams regularly but what we all have is a great headset and camera so it makes it easy to see and hear people. We have even created a 'virtual meetings' guide on how meetings will be run as its not easy sometimes to have a virtual meeting, especially when the team is more than a few people.
Prioritise Virtual Options:
Make virtual meetings the default choice for internal meetings and discussions whenever feasible. If possible support remote work arrangements, which naturally reduce the need for employees to travel to the office.
Allow Scheduling
Use tools that show colleagues' availability to schedule virtual meetings at convenient times for all participants and use collaboration platforms for document sharing, real-time editing, and project tracking, reducing the need for in-person meetings.
By following this guide, you can successfully reduce the need for unnecessary business travel and promote the use of virtual meetings, leading to improved efficiency, cost savings, and a more sustainable approach to business operations.
