Website Blogs

Stuart Dillon-Roberts —

‘Blog’ is actually short for web log. A blog is a type of website or webpage which usually displays information in chronological order from the most recent ‘post’ (or entry) at the top of the page to the oldest at the bottom.

What are the benefits of having a blog on your website?

According to a recent inbound marketing report, nearly 80% of companies that use blogging as a part of their marketing strategy reported that they gained customers through their blogging efforts. Additionally, 82% of businesses stated that blogging was critical to their business.

As well as reaching more customers, and strengthening your existing relationships, blogs are an effective way to establish your business as a leader in its field. Not only that, but providing regular fresh content can help to boost your SEO dramatically (particularly if you also include keywords in your posts).

All in all, blogging is an inexpensive way for small businesses to drive traffic to their site, enhance inbound marketing efforts and attract more perspective customers.

Things to consider if you want to add a blog to your website

If you find the thought of creating a blog intimidating, aim to start small. Create a realistic schedule that aims to post little but often. Short, regular posts are far more effective at engaging your audience and creating a following than the odd lengthy piece.

Make the most of your blog content by posting links to your social media pages. But don’t just post the link, take time to explain to your followers why they should click on it and the benefits for reading the post.

Common Blogging Tools

Many website platforms have the option to include a Blog on your website, talk to your website provider or if you are using a free web tool like Wix, Weebly or Wordpress they have plug-ins available.

The most common blogging tools are:

  • WordPress.com
  • Blogger
  • Tumblr

if you really want to engage your audience why not consider creating a Video Blog or Vlog.  All the common blogging tools allow videos to be added.
