New Bishop Appointed for Te Hui Amorangi o Te Upoko o Te Ika.

Archbishops & Primates of Aotearoa —

Please read on for a formal announcement regarding the second Bishop of Te Hui Amorangi o Te Upoko o Te Ika.

From the formal communication of our Archbishops today:

The Venerable Waitohiariki Quayle has been elected as the 2nd Bishop of Te Hui Amorangi o Te Upoko o Te Ika.
Waitohiariki will be the first Māori woman, and the first Aotearoa New Zealand born woman, to become a Bishop in this Church.
We give thanks to God for what will surely be an appointment of great significance for this Church, for Māori, and for the Anglican Communion.
We look forward to sharing with Waitohiariki in leadership and ministry.
Thanks be to God.
Waitohiariki’s ordination as a bishop will take place later this year at a time to be determined.

The announcement, in full, from the The Archbishops and Primates of Aotearoa, New Zealand, and Polynesia can be downloaded
