Fund Our Bishop Update June 2019

Andrew Metcalfe —

In 2016 a “Fund Our Bishop” campaign began to help ensure our Diocese could continue to support having a Bishop in post.

At this time, 67 donors signed up and contributed just over $18k in the first year. By 2017, the number of donors had fallen to 55, but the amount received was $32k, helped along by a very generous one-off donation of $12k. In 2018, we received $25,134 from 52 donors.  Currently we have 31 regular donors who give monthly or more frequently.

When the Fund Our Bishop campaign was originally set up, it was on the basis that it gave us some time to get our house more in order i.e. we were looking at doing this for a 5 year time period and we now have two years to go. We need to talk more about this in the future, but we do know that contributing to the Bishopric Endowment fund is the best way to support having a Bishop in the long term.

Thank you to all who have generously supported the Bishop’s post and other Diocesan funds. If you would like to contribute to any of these, please contact us and we will give you information on how to do this.

There will be a more detailed description on the Fund Our Bishop campaign in financial reports for Synod 2019.
