South Singing - for a weekend!

Anne van Gend —

Registrations close this week! Sometimes it's good to do something together that is pure fun - especially if, on the side, it manages to help people and provide a bit of a learning experience at the same time!

REGISTRATIONS CLOSE THIS WEEK.

We are inviting anyone who enjoys singing, whether or not you're any good at it, to come to Waipiata from Saturday Sept 21-22 and enjoy opportunities to sing old favourites and new favourites together, while continuing to help our Scattered People of the Good Shepherd with their monthly online services. Hymns and songs we sing will be recorded and made available for use in these services, broadening the range of music we are able to use.

On Saturday afternoon we'll also offer a choice of workshops for those who are interested.

a. Emma and Mark have a brilliant way of helping people who can't read music, get a handle on what's going on with those black dots on the paper. By the end of this workshop, you won't necessarily be "reading music" but you'll find those same black dots a help rather than a hindrance.

b. What do we do about music in our smallest churches? What if there are only 3 of us? No organist? Join Anne to pool ideas and learn what she's picked up over years of working with small faith communities.

c. Our third workshop is, at this stage, a "wait and see" - but it will be something drawing on your creativity!

Event Timing: Starting 10.30am on September 21st. Finishing 2.30pm Sunday 22nd.

Event Venue: En Hakkore Retreat Centre, Orangapai Rd, Waipiata. Find it on google maps by clicking here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/qTDt1yPSCpRBoErB7 .

En Hakkore charges an amazingly good rate for great food and reasonably basic accommodation. Don't expect luxury! We need to bring our own sheets, pillow case and towel, and if you need a power point in your room for health reasons, do indicate that in the questions below, as only a few rooms have one. However, it is in a beautiful part of our country, the food is cooked with love, and we really enjoy our diocesan events there.

The cost will work out at $110 per head for accommodation and 4 meals, plus morning and afternoon tea and biscuits for supper. PLEASE IF THIS COST MEANS YOU DECIDE NOT TO COME, EMAIL ANNE. There is a lot of scope for subsidising people, so don't feel embarrassed! If you want to come, we'd like you to come.

REGISTRATIONS CLOSE on September 5th but it would be really helpful to know as soon as possible, so we know how many accommodation wings we need to reserve.
