Kia ora Dunedin

Please find attached the Tikanga Giving Schedule for the Dunedin Diocese for end August 2021.

Thank you again for supporting us so well. Giving for the year end Oct 2021 is down by 5% on the same period last year but I’m hoping that the recent visit by Steph and Campbell will help to enthuse parishes to keep giving! Thanks very much +Steven for meeting them last week and to Dot for being such an amazing and generous host. I have had great reports from them both on their time with you. Thank you.

We should reach in the next few days the goal of $150,000 for the Get one. Give one. Campaign - which is tremendous. This means that almost 20,000 people who would otherwise not be able to receive a vaccine in low-income countries now can. Thank you for promoting the Campaign over the past few months.

We had a great Overseas Mission Tikanga Pakeha (OMTP) largely face-to-face meeting last week in Wellington. Great to have you here Dot. The meeting looked at the role and responsibilities of the OMTP and how we can get out there more and keep overseas mission on the radar of parishes. Please look out for an array of new initiatives in the next few months designed to do exactly that, including:

  • A brand new website
  • The mapping project that aims to identify all overseas mission-related activities supported by Anglican Churches across the Province
  • A video that traces what we do and why
  • A new charitable trust that will provide the framework for our overseas development and humanitarian commitments (and will mean that people donating to those projects can claim a tax-rebate)
  • New partnerships with church and faith-based agencies that will help us avoid duplication of effort; leverage respective strengths and ensure value for money.

I have attached a copy of the 2020 Annual Report FYI (better late than never!).

Thanks once again.

Ngā mihi and best wishes, Michael
