St John's College Trust Board Scholarships - applications now open for 2026

Damon Plimmer —

Did you know that any of us can apply for a study scholarship in order to deepen our knowledge of God, the church, or practices of faith?

Scholarships are available for lay people, for ordained people, or for those training to be ordained. The course of study could be full-time or part-time or just one paper; it could be university-based or through any accredited institution. The criteria is simply that the funding should go towards "instruction in the principles of the Christian faith."

Have you considered the excellent programme designed for lay people, "Education for Ministry"? Or do you have time to really dig into the Scripture, or to deepen your skills in pastoral care, and would consider a diploma or a degree through Otago or Bishopsdale or Laidlaw? Or are you in pastoral ministry and are wanting to take study leave?

St John's College Trust Board scholarships could cover most of or even all the expenses involved in such study. This is an amazing and unique resource for those of us within the Anglican Church of Aotearoa New Zealand and Polynesia.

If you are interested, email Nicola on enabler@calledsouth.org.nz to find out more or follow this link to apply. The support of your priest and the Diocesan Ministry Educator are requirements.

The closing date for 2026 applications is August 31, 2025.
