Hei konā mai... and Haere Mai at South Centre
Last week we said Hei konā mai (goodbye for now) to Judith Petersen and Haere Mai (welcome) to new manager of South Centre, MaryAnn Kuiti.

A sizeable gathering of friends, whānau, co-workers and colleagues (former and current) met on Wednesday 29 September to say farewell to Judith Petersen who moves into the next phase of her life after being manager at South Centre for over 35 years.
Heartfelt speeches were made by people representing local parishes, funders of South Centre and former colleagues, many who now have significant roles in social services in Southland, and who were part of South Centre at the start of their careers. People spoke of the dedication and professionalism of Judith, especially in ensuring that her staff were supported in their own training and supervision so that clients receive the best service they can. Judith emphasised how important it was to her to have four generations of her family with her on this occasion - for many of them, South Centre had also played a significant part in their daily lives.
Bishop Steve presented Judith with a long service award and gave a blessing for Judith as she moves on (apparently, building a new fence at home is the first task that Judith will be undertaking, with the help of others!). Other gifts were given to Judith, and then an appropriate feast was enjoyed by all.
Part of this transition has involved searching for a new manager, and the gathering was informed that Ms MaryAnn Kuiti (currently a support worker at South Centre) has been appointed into the post, and will start as manager on Monday 3 October.
Please continue to remember in your prayers Judith, MaryAnn, the team and clients of South Centre as they move into a new future.
