Bishop Ross in the Auckland Diocese writes:

Current restrictions on gathering numbers in Auckland have led to the decision that Jim’s funeral will be a private family service. I know that you will join me in holding Jane, Samuel and Sophie in our prayers as they gather for this service on Monday 5 October.

A Requiem Eucharist is then being planned to be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Auckland at 11.00am on Friday 9th October. In the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, whilst the government have agreed in principle that Auckland will move to Alert Level 1 next week, this will not be confirmed until Monday 5th October. As such, I will write to you after that announcement confirming details for the service, and noting any measures needed to meet any gathering restrictions that may still be in place for the service.
Thank you for the many messages of support that have been received these past days. Jane and the family are very grateful for the care they are feeling from you all, and for the strength they are gaining from your prayers.
