Connecting God's Scattered People
Here's a quick update on some of the things that are connecting people across the Diocese.
Bishop's Companions Programme (BCP)
We've launched into a second year of the BCP, with 14 Pilgrims meeting weekly online with a Companion and walking with them along a journey of reading the Bible, praying, and living out the Life of Christ. This is a programme open to anyone, at any stage of their faith journey (even those tentatively wondering if they want to make that journey). We start where you are and walk at your speed and explore the paths that interest you. We are not interested in you jumping particular hoops, but rather deepening your own walk with God.
A further 14 Pilgrims from the 2022 BCP have chosen to "Dive Deeper" in 2023. Half of them meet fortnightly to explore the books of Ephesians and Philippians, and the other half are delving into Genesis. Later in the year they and others from the 2022 group will be diving deeper into prayer and aspects of living the Life of Christ. It's an ongoing journey!
Scattered People of the Good Shepherd Monthly Zoom Services
We are continuing to offer this service in 2023 on every 4th Sunday. Bishop Steve leads them when he is in the country, and while he is away over winter for his Study Leave, Bishop Kelvin and Anne will be covering them. We encourage you to gather in your faith communities where possible, but individuals and families are also very welcome. Links to the zoom link and an article with the service, hymns and readings can be found on the Called South homepage and here.
Mulled Evenings
After the fun and fellowship we've had the past two years with Mulled Evenings, we were hoping to bring them to a few more places in 2023. We'll be going ahead with the one in Balclutha that had to be postponed last year; however, with Bishop Steve overseas for most of winter, we may try to find a spring version for the rest. Any suggestions?!
