We are looking forward to having you join us for a day of learning, growing skills, fellowship, and support.
Join us for a great annual training event
This year we are delighted to be joined by Bishop Anne van Gend as our keynote speaker. Bishop Anne will reflect on the Diocesan vision:
“We are the Anglican family—whānau in this place, called to be ambassadors for Christ and ministers of reconciliation. We are here because we are compelled by the love of Christ.”
Following Bishop Anne’s address, participants will spend the day rotating through three workshops:
Being With – exploring Sam Wells’ Being With course, led by Julanne Clarke-Morris
Child and Family Ministry – practical ways to nurture and embed child and family ministry within the wider community, led by Kara Dodd
Reconciliation and Non-Violent Communication – engaging faithfully and constructively across difference, led by Sally Prebble
The day will be woven together with times of prayer and worship, and will conclude with a Eucharist presided over by the Bishop.
Lunch will be provided by the wonderful Balclutha catering group who delighted us all last year.
These training days are a wonderful chance to get together with people from across the Diocese. We take Lay Ministry seriously, and as such, we want to ensure we give you ongoing opportunities to refresh and grow your skills and knowledge. We strongly encourage all who are Licenced Lay Ministers to come to the day if possible, and extend the invitation to all who are interested in growing their own ministry.
If travel costs are difficult, please let us know when you register as some support is available. Many people car-share which gives you more time to chat, saves petrol, and - particularly for those driving a long way - makes the journey safer.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
