Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2022

Michael Wallace —

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has been observed by Christians from many traditions since 1908. In Aotearoa New Zealand the Week runs from Ascension to Pentecost (May 26-June 5) and you are invited to a service at All Saints Dunedin on 5 June.

You and your congregations are warmly invited to a service to mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity at All Saints’ Church, Cumberland St, on Pentecost Sunday June 5th at 7pm, followed by supper in All Saints’ Hall.

This year’s theme is ‘We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship him.’(Mt 2:2), the theme was chosen by the Middle East Council of Churches.

The materials prepared by the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity and the World Council of Churches Commission on Faith and Order can be found here and we will use these materials for the service (see attached document below for any who may be planning to use these in your own settings).

There are also resources including a poster prepared by the NZ Catholic Bishops’ Conference.

There will be a meeting to plan the service on Tuesday May 24th at 4pm at All Saints’ front hall. You are very welcome to come to the planning meeting/and or the liturgy.
