Hospitality Check for Churches - Update

Diocesan Office —

Recently Bishop Steve indicated that hospitality could resume in Churches according to what was agreed in original Action Plans.

We have reviewed and updated some of our checklists (attached below and also available on-line via the Pandemic Response Framework appendices).

The main changes are around:

  • People serving (hospitality) to wear face coverings
  • Encouraging people to keep face coverings on unless eating/drinking
  • Updated MOH advice on cleaning (in two of the guidelines’ appendices)

The following has been sent out to Clergy and Wardens:

We want to check that you have copies of your original hospitality plans, that you have read them and briefed the appropriate people who are helping to provide this.

Your original hospitality Plan will be included in the Action Plan you had approved in 2020.

Here are some suggested actions:

  1. Look out your plans and send us an email confirming that you have familiarised yourself with these and have briefed all those who are putting these into place. One email from a Warden is all we need confirming that this has taken place.
  2. If you can't find your plans, contact Nicola Wong or Andrew Metcalfe (03 488 0820) and we will send it to you again.
  3. If you need to update or revise your plans, please send us any changes so we can get the Bishop to approve the amendments, before you resume offering hospitality. Attached below is a copy of the Hospitality Check list that is useful to compare what you have, and can also be used as a check list for anyone providing hospitality to ensure that everything is carried out in a safe manner.

Remember that it is important to know who has gathered for hospitality if any contact tracing needs to take place in the future. You should keep a register of people who have stayed for hospitality and encourage people to scan in on their phones if they are able to do so.

Please do contact us if you have any questions at all - we're very happy to help.
