Advent includes getting and staying ready...

Andrew Metcalfe —

After such a momentous year, it's wonderful to be able to prepare for Christmas this year, but remembering other parts of the world who can't do this. We are reminding all faith communities to make sure that everything is in place as extra services and celebrations are planned.

Be Prepared

Our advice on Alert Level 1 is worth reviewing if you have not checked it out for some time. In particular, we are saying:

For any church buildings that do not have the Government Tracer App poster, you must do this now. We recommend you have this near all entrances to your buildings. Contact Peter Mann House if you need a hand with this: we can help with smaller sized posters and laminating them for protection.

A reminder also of information we have for producing the Tracer App Poster - it is easy to do, or the Diocesan office is happy to help.

We are also asking everyone to ensure sanitiser (or hand washing facilities) is available and topped up. Please ensure that all clergy and servers are following the process outlined in our frequently asked questions for level 1: sanitising before handling bread and wine (Eucharist) and after any other physical contact (for example, if you choose to share the peace with direct contact).

If your building is only occasionally used, it's important to get this sorted now.

Stay Alert

We are coming to a time of the year where more people will be moving about including friends and family from other parts of New Zealand. We still need to be alert as we know that any virus thrives particularly well in the warm damp of complacency, and it can take a couple of weeks before a new community outbreak is confirmed....
