We proclaim this unity so often in our worship. We are the body of Christ! We shall all be one in Christ! Christ is reconciliation for the whole human race! And we know Jesus told us plainly that people will recognise us as his disciples through our love for one another. As clergy and lay leaders, people "paddling in the same direction" then, taking time together to grow that one-ness, that connection, even that love, should be a high priority for us all.
At last year's ministry school we were led gently through ways to understand each other more deeply across differences, and to listen to others respectfully and openly. This year we are being joined by Chris Jansen, Director and Senior Consultant of Leadership Lab. Chris is a person of deep faith who seeks to help those within and outside the church understand some of the complexities of working together, and of leading people who are working together. He has a superb programme lined up for us. Find out more on the registration page HERE.
May 8-10 at En Hakkore. We will start near the middle of the day to give people plenty of time to arrive, and finish mid-afternoon on the Saturday.
Remember that all of us on covenants have already agreed to attend Ministry School as part of the annual expectations we have said we will meet. Others are, of course, very welcome.
In addition this year we are lucky enough to have the Rev'd Dr Samuel Wells visiting New Zealand in August from the parish of St Martin in the Fields, London. Many of you will have read one of Sam's numerous books, or maybe heard him speak on YouTube or in person. He is a superb speaker, and a deep and wise thinker. (We have some of his books in the Diocesan Library if anyone would like to read them!). He is being brought out primarily by the Diocese of Auckland, but was happy to extend his stay so as to be able to spend a day or two in each of the Tikanga Pakeha dioceses. He will be here on
August 20th and 21st.
On the 20th he will be offering a day-long set of talks and workshops for us. On the 21st the Presbyterian church and the university have invited him to the Presbyterian ministry school, and to give a keynote address at the university. We are also welcome to share in those if we choose.
We will tell you more as more information becomes available.
