Anglican Diocese of Dunedin by Andrew Metcalfe

Invitation to the Ordination to the Priesthood of Rev’d Joel Stutter

I am delighted to invite you to this Service of Ordination for Joel. It will be held on

Sunday 28th of January, 2024 at 2.00pm

and will take place in the grounds of St Peter’s Church, 500 Hillside Road, Caversham in South Dunedin.

My intention is for it to be outside – but there will be provision for holding it undercover if the weather dares to rain. Please be “sun-smart” – do bring hats, sunscreen and parasols as comfortable.

The service is celebrating and honouring some of the Anglican traditions that have sustained and formed Joel in his Christian faith, and particularly in his time of discernment. Joel joins me in recognising the beauty and depths of the Anglican way of doing things, and the need for the church to be present for the world and community. Our prayer is that this service will reflect this.

We will be following the Ordination Service from the NZPB, all Clergy are encouraged to attend, and to wear whatever they feel comfortable in – clerical collars, albs and stoles are as welcome as T-shirts, casual dress or suits – please note there are no processions planned for this service.

Following the service there will be a reception with finger food refreshments and drinks.

For catering purposes please can you indicate by Tuesday 23 January 2024 to Nicola Wong (bishops.pa@calledsouth.org.nz) whether you will be attending or not.

Please pray for Joel and his family, for the Rev’d Natalie Milliken and the congregation of St Peters, and for Rev’d Esther Clarke-Prebble and the people of St Martha’s, the places where Joel serves and worships.
