Cara, Year 8 Student & Ms J Kim —

'Eigo' the Japanese word for 'English'

Year 8 engaged with the Japanese language learning:

  • how to pronounce our school subjects in Japanese and how to write them in Hiragana.
  • a variety of expressions, phrases and vocabulary such as our school periods and transport methods
  • how to respond to a person’s opinion with our own opinion.

We are now using the knowledge to create our manga (comic) which is a fun and enjoyable task for our Assessment Task 2.

Students in Year 9 learned to:

· discuss people’s nationality, birthplace and where they grew up

· talk about the languages they and others speak

· talk about how languages are studied

· make a polite request

For Assessment Task 2, students will read and listen to a number of texts in Japanese, then use their comprehension to answer a series of English language questions.
