Year 7: A Big Year of Activities
As we approach the end of the academic year it is my pleasure to reflect on the achievements and experiences of our Year 7 cohort. This year has been marked by growth, learning, and numerous memorable events.
A huge congratulations to our Year 7 students for surviving their first year of high school! This year was filled with so many fun activities such as the Year 7 Camp, Taronga Zoo excursion and the Year 7 Young Archie excursion - just to name a few.
Students had an amazing time at camp, experiencing countless fun activities such as archery, damper making, frisby, bushwalking, golf, fire safety and canoeing. Such experiences ensured team spirit was alive and many friendships were forged.
Here are some photo highlights from our great time at camp:
Another highlight of the year was the Taronga Zoo excursion with Year 7 students and the Support Unit. This excursion assisted students with their Assessment Task on Classification. Students attended a live workshop, learning all about features of animals and how they are classified.
Here are some great photos of the day:
Students also attended the Art Gallery of NSW for the Young Archie exhibition back in August. The excursion provided students with the opportunity to develop their understanding of portrait painting through the experience of attending the gallery's annual portrait prize competition.
Here are some highlights from the day:
We are eagerly looking forward to the grand finale of the academic year at the Presentation Day, scheduled to take place at Enmore Theatre on Monday 11 December. It will be a day of celebration, acknowledging the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of our Year 7 students. The event will bring together students, parents, and staff to recognise and applaud academic achievements.
Following the grand Presentation Day, our Year 7 cohort is set to enjoy a delightful Homeroom Attendance Pizza Party on Tuesday 12 December. This gathering will not only celebrate regular attendance but will also provide an opportunity for students to strengthen their bonds with classmates and teachers in a relaxed and festive setting.
On Wednesday 13 December, we will come together once again to honour the high achievers within the Year 7 cohort. The High Achievers’ Assembly will be a moment of recognition for those students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance, dedication to their studies, and a commitment to excellence. It will be a proud occasion for students.
We plan to conclude the academic year with an enjoyable End of Year Picnic on Thursday 14 December. This outdoor event will be held at the Ashfield Aquatic Centre and will provide an opportunity for students, parents, and teachers to come together in a casual and festive atmosphere. The picnic will allow everyone to reflect on the year gone by and create lasting memories with friends and mentors.
I want to extend my warmest wishes to each student and their families for a joyous festive season. May this time be filled with laughter, love, and moments of relaxation.
Next year, the wonderful Mr. Sokias will be leading the cohort into Year 8 where you all will continue our journey of learning and growth together.
In closing, I want to express my gratitude to the Year 7 cohort for their hard work, resilience, and positive contributions throughout the year. I am excited about the great things that lie ahead in Year 8.
