Deputy's Report: Attendance Matters
We always enjoy welcoming new students to our school, it's been a great start to the year
Firstly, I'd like to take the opportunity to welcome all the new students and parents to the school and remind you of some of the great opportunities that are available to get involved with the school community. I encourage all students to sign up for one or more of our extra curricular activities, it is a great way to create friendships while learning a new skill.
- Music ensembles: Vocal ensemble, Rock Band, Concert Band, Stage Band
- Drama
- Dance group
- Visual Arts enrichment classes
- Design enrichment
For parents we always welcome new faces to the P&C, which to date has been a dynamic and energetic group of parents that support our school through fundraising activities and by providing us a positive link to our broader school community.
Attendance Matters:
We want to do all we can to be sure your child achieves their potential and enjoys being in school.
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options. Consistent attendance improves student outcomes, increases career options, and helps students build relationships and confidence.
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and well being. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
