Our SRC has been hard at work helping plan and execute several recent school events
We can’t believe that it’s already August! Isn’t that crazy? The SRC has been working tirelessly over the past semester to plan events that the students, teachers, and parents can all enjoy.
One of these classic events was the Winter Gala, which spanned over two nights in Week 3. Lots of fun! We hope all of you were lucky enough to witness the thrilling power of Beatless’ Star Wars rap on the second night. They were head first. Fearless. But they weren’t the only highlight! Drama students from years 8 to 12 performed some extraordinary pieces, including monologues, movement-based pieces, group performances, and more. Furthermore, the music faculty played some amazing tunes, as always.
Now, we’re sure everyone is excited for Dully’s next big event: Wear It Purple Day! This year's theme is Write Your Story, something we see at Dulwich every day. As usual, students will be given the opportunity to display their unique looks in the fashion show, raise some money through badge stalls, cake stalls and a sausage sizzle, and show off their identity through a range of stylish clothes.
On a more academic note, a big congratulations to the Year 12s who have just finished their HSC Trials! They have been working non-stop all holidays, practically camping out to get the best spots in Marrickville Library, and now they can rest, relax, and prepare for more exams!
Furthermore, our school captains Holly and James visited Parliament House at the end of last term, an incredible experience for them to enhance their leadership skills (and listen to politicians fight about Taylor Swift…).
Finally, what a success NAIDOC week was last term! Thanks to the Koori Club, DHSVAD got to experience a smoking ceremony and speech from Uncle Charles “Chicka” Madden, enjoy some amazing First Nations food (the emu quiches were a personal favourite), and listen to some amazing music.
Sincerely, the SRC team.
