What's On: Wear It Purple Day 2024 - Friday 30 August
On Friday 30 August, DHSVAD will celebrate Wear It Purple Day—an annual Australian awareness day dedicated to supporting LGBTIQA+ youth.
On this day, we are asking students, teachers, and staff to wear purple to honour diversity and show solidarity with the LGBTIQA+ community.
Wear It Purple Day is about creating supportive, safe, and inclusive environments for rainbow youth. This year, we're once again raising funds for Minus18, Australia's leading charity supporting LGBTQIA+ young people. Last year, we raised around $950 through gold coin donations and student-run stalls. This year, we aim to raise even more!
With the help of the Diversity Club, SRC, and the support of Ms. Lukezic, Ms. Mora, and Ms. Ryan, we've planned an exciting day filled with activities and a fashion parade.
Here’s what to expect on the day:
Gold coin donation during homeroom
Wear It Purple Day KAHOOT
Extended lunch
Bake sale
Hair glitter stall
Face glitter stall
Face painting stall
Bracelet stall
Fashion parade: Teachers and students from each year strutting to hits played by our Year 11 DJ, DJ Riri
We look forward to our school community coming together to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and the strength of our LGBTQIA+ youth, hoping to keep that spirit alive every day at DHSVAD.
