Scale Solar System - Yr 10

Yr 10 have been learning about the topic The Cosmos in science.

This topic explores the origin of the universe, the Big Bang theory, the scale of the solar system and the technology we observe universe. 

Recently, Year 10 went down to the Graham Green to make a scaled down model of our own solar system! The image below represents this model.

 Starting from the furthest planet away is Aristotle as Neptune, Kai as Uranus, Beth as Saturn, Jack as Jupiter, Oli as Mars, Olive as Earth, Tyler as Venus, Josh as Mercury, and Nikasha as the Sun. 

In the image below the distance between the Sun and Earth is 1 meter in space this same distance is 149,597,871 km! This number represents 1 astronomical unit. There’s a lot of space in space…
