Talent Quests, Sausage Sizzles, Washable Tattoos, Sushi

What a day of celebration of the wonderful diverse students of DHSVAD. 

Diversity Day Wear it Purple 2022 kicked off with our amazing food stalls with delicious treats from all different corners of the globe. We had Support with Chocolate Crackles, Science with Souvlaki, HSIE with a Sausage Sizzle, TAS selling Gelato, LOTE bringing the Sushi, Math supplying the drinks, English providing the Popcorn and the SRC with an amazing array of baked goods. Visual Arts were applying some colourful washable tattoos and the Diversity crew had the badge maker working hard.

Throughout the lunch students bopped along to the fun tunes and a highlight would have to be, one and all joining in the impromptu YMCA performance in the quad. Following lunch students made their way to the hall for the Talent Quest or Oval to participate in a diverse range of sporting activities.

Out on the Oval students played hard in games of Soccer, Oztouch and End Zone. Even their braids made a beautiful rainbow.

In the hall, students were enthralled in our quest speaker Charley Saunders who spoke of her life experiences in the transgender and arts community. They were then treated to an amazing selection of DHSVAD students talents in dance and music. Judges Mr Casimiro, Mr O’Donnell and Ms Skott had their work cut out for them in choosing the prizes. We want to congratulate all students for their outstanding performances on the day! The prizes went to the following:

2nd - Goldie  - Sleeping Lotus

1st - Junior Dance Ensemble - Matthew Y, Sofiia C, Max F, Liv W, Felicia J, Tamariah T and Sofia P - Let it Rain.

Special thanks to Yr 11 and 12 Entertainment students along with Mr Kok who worked tirelessly to get the talent quest together, as well as Mrs Swadling, Ms Boogaard and Ms Kapeliotis who planned the day. Diversity Day Wear it Purple will be back in 2023!
