Harmony Day 2024: Students and Staff Proudly Come Together to Celebrate Multiculturalism

Dulwich High School of Visual Arts & Design —

This year our Harmony Week Celebrations consisted of engaging activities throughout the week as well as a host of fun and meaningful events on Thursday 21 March.

Harmony Week celebrates and recognises our cultural diversity, bringing together Australians from different backgrounds. It also creates awareness about racial discrimination and the importance of working towards its elimination.

At DHSVAD we held a range of activities throughout the week to acknowledge this dual nature of Harmony Day including a fun quiz that students could participate in - congratulations to Ollie C in Year 11 who won the quiz activity!

On the Thursday of Harmony Week (21 March) we held a plethora of different events and activities to mark the week, including a Smoking Ceremony, Aboriginal performance and an event opening assembly to kick off the day, which featured a joyous whole-school Macarena, led by students from our Nolan Class, Ollie class and Ms Lukezic.

We then held an extended lunch with an abundance of cultural food stalls run by students, parents and staff. Foods included Greek souvlaki, sweets and drinks, Italian pasta, Jamaican cuisine, Indian curries and lassis; Aussie BBQ, Japanese sushi and chocolate crackles.
