Brendan's awesome experience with the 302 Squadron Air Force Cadets

Dulwich High School of Visual Arts & Design —

DHSVAD student Brendan is encouraging his fellow peers to join the Cadets as it is a great chance to learn survival skills and build great friendships!

One of our student's Brendan, has taken the opportunity to engage in extra curricula activities with the 302 Squadron, Air Force Cadets at Rockdale.

The 302 Squadron Recruits in February each year and while they have finished recruiting for this year, the next opportunity will be in 2024.

Brendan wants to promote the Cadets to fellow students as a fantastic experience and means of developing great friendships and great activities.

Since being involved with the squadron Brendan has participated in the following:

  • A weekend course at the RAAF base in Richmond which included a flight in a Hercules transporter. The Hercules is the workhorse of the Australian Airforce, not just involved in military work, but disaster recovery and humanitarian work in the region and around the world.
  • He has completed numerous Bivouac (minimalist camping) events at Holsworthy and other challenging venues. The events are designed to teach life and survival skills.
  • He has also participated in gliding and completed his Advanced First Aid course. Activities that he wouldn’t have thought possible only a year or two ago.
  • Brendan was the proud recipient of the Cadet of the year award for 2022. He would be happy to discuss his experiences with fellow students.

Thank you Judith for putting together this article.
