HSIE Faculty update: List of History topics for Years 7-10 and examples of stand-out student work

Ms Hinchey, Head Teacher HSIE (Relieving) —

The HSIE faculty are excited to be back for what will be another year of insightful learning across the histories and social sciences.

Welcome back students, families, and community members! This year the HSIE faculty is made up of Ms Abihanna, Ms Byrne, Ms Dowling, Ms Harbort, Ms Hinchey, Ms Leggett, Mr O’Neil, Mr Pagano, Mr Robson, Mr Sokias and Ms Stojanoska.

We would like to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of our Year 12, 2022 students who overcame two lockdown periods in their last three years at school to achieve some outstanding results in their various HSIE courses in the 2022 HSC.

We wish all the best of luck and fortitude to our current cohort of Year 12 social scientists and historians as they embark on their final three terms of schooling.

In particular, we would also like to welcome our new cohort of Year 7 students to the school - they have already been engaging enthusiastically with learning in their History classes and have settled into the school very well.

As always in HSIE, the curriculum (History and Geography) is semesterised with History being taught in Terms One and Two and Geography being taught in Terms Three and Four.

Please see below for a summary of what students are engaging with as a part of their Semester One studies in History:

We also want to extend a warm welcome to all our Year 11 students who have begun senior study in HSIE subjects. We look forward to supporting our senior students in their learning and wellbeing throughout the year.
