Year 10 - Accepting and Learning From Others

Mr O'Donnell, Year 10 Advisor —

To add to my Meaning and Purpose by learning about and accepting different cultures.

Communities thrive and flourish when they accept and respect individual and group differences, such as, a variety of cultures, disabilities, skills, shapes, sizes and abilities. The great thing is, that we all bring our own special something to share to help our communities grow; expect it and respect it.

When you enjoy a healthy state of wellbeing, you are willing to learn from others because they matter and you talk about issues, topics and events, not other people.

Social connectedness within our communities is about seeking first to understand before making judgements about them.

In my role as year adviser, while supporting our wellbeing programs including KEYS and year meetings, I have been speaking to students about how we can boost our collective wellbeing through being mindful of our connections, interactions and the results of our actions.

Our Year 10 students are on the brink of starting a new chapter of studies, having chosen their senior subjects for 2023, looking outward towards the future of study and career paths. Remember, no matter what course or path you choose, be mindful of your connections, your community, your interactions and the impressions you make.
