Positive Start to the School Year : Principals Report

Dulwich High School of Visual Arts & Design —

It has been a great start to the 2023 school year and our new year 7 students have all settled in well.

We are so impressed with the seamless transition they have made into high school. It was lovely to meet and welcome many new families during the year 7 BBQ which was generously supported by the P&C.

At the same time, I would like to congratulate our 2022 HSC students, several of which have reported to have started University, TAFE and employment and some taking the year off to travel. We have been hearing from individual students as they have begun their new journey. Its very gratifying to hear of their successes and to also receive feedback on what helped them most whilst they completed their final year of study.

There will be a HSC Information night this week. Mr O’Neill will be clarifying HSC/ATAR requirements including instructions and available options for Early Entry to University. There will be an opportunity to answer questions at the completion of the presentation so please join us online.

This year, students in year 7 and 9 will be completing NAPLAN online. There will be an opportunity for students to practice this week and we wish them all the best in week 8 when attempting their actual examinations. Students should be well prepared with equipment and devices fully charged for the day.

The swimming carnival was a whole school event this year and what a turn out it was! Despite the rain, students and staff made the most of it and enjoyed the day out. A big thank you to the PDHPE faculty for getting us all there!

Finally, a reminder to parents and carers to download School Enews to ensure you are receiving up to date information for your child’s cohort and extra-curricular activities.
