An important message to our wonderful Year 12 students as they approach their HSC exams

Mr Quaglia, Year 12 Advisor —

By the time this is published, we will have seen the last of the major works submitted with Music being externally marked on Monday the 4th of September. This marks the first time that Year 12 students and teachers come up for air in the chaos that is Term 3.

Following this, the sobering reality sets in. It’s almost over.

There hasn’t been time to think. Time to reflect. Time to worry about anything other than the completion of major works and the last of the coursework. But only three weeks of school remain.

Some will start to worry about how much study is still to be done. Some will feel like they’ve already done too much and are teetering on the edge of burn out. The most important thing to do in this time; however, is to enjoy every moment that remains. Throw yourselves in the deep end of all the little activities that sum up the final moments of Year 12. You can put the books down for a minute. It’s okay. They’re not going anywhere.

This is the culmination of thirteen years of your lives, so enjoy every single moment. Talk to people you haven’t before. Tell people something you appreciate about them. Thank someone for something they did that one time in Year 9 when you were having a rough time. All these little things are what make high school important.

As you go on towards the exams, school will go on. But there will be a glaring absence in the school when the class of 2023 leaves. They are a particularly special group and one that we will miss dearly.

I will save the sentimentalities for the Graduation Dinner. So until then, get around one another. That’s what will make school memorable.

Some important reminders for parents:

The Graduation ceremony will take place on Tuesday 19 September.

The Graduation Dinner will take place on Wednesday 20 September at Marrickville Town hall from 6PM.

Please return student notes for the Picnic Day on Friday 22 September - this can be done through School Bytes.

I’ll see you at Graduation!
