In honor of Wear It Purple Day, DHSVAD teachers and students dressed in purple on August 25 to celebrate the diversity of young people in their community and raise funds for Minus 18.

To kick start the day of activities, students wore their best mufti attire (and donated a gold coin). Students displayed their uniqueness and creativity by wearing purple, a plethora of colours, glitter and more .

The second part of the day included student-led stalls and a fashion parade, both of which were highly successful. The student led stalls were a combined effort from the Wellbeing team (Ms Bean, Ms Mora, and Miss Lukezic), SRC students, and LGBTQIA+ club, all of which committed their time, effort, and energy to brainstorming ideas and making and creating fabulous creations for the stalls for their peers and teachers to buy. As part of the festivities, yummy baked goods were offered, as well as handmade hair scrunchies, bracelets, badges, face painting, glitter, and hair arrangements.

For the fashion parade, Mr. O'Donnell and his production team put on a stunning show, complete with lighting and staging for the courageous catwalk performers to show off, as well as a spot for our superstar DJ from Year 10, DJ RiRi, to swagger and rip beats. As the crowd roared with excitement, the fashion parade officially got underway, with teachers from all faculties teaming up with a buddy for the title, and students from all years also participating.

Even though all walkers were extraordinary, the judges could not select a winner in either category. Therefore, the crowd was left to make the decision. In the Teacher Title category, Mr Cuccinello from the PDHPE faculty won, and in the Student Title category, Alexis B from Year 7.

In all, the event was a huge success, raising over $900 for Minus 18. Congratulations Dulwich. What a loud and proud day for all! 😊
