Principal's Report

Mr O'Neill, Principal (R.)March 10, 2025

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all students, families and friends of Dulwich High of Visual Arts and Design to the 2025 school year.

In particular, I would like to extend an especially warm welcome to the newest members of our school community, Year 7 2025 and their families. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful P&C for welcoming our new parents into our school community by hosting our inaugural Year 7 Parent Morning Tea and the Year 7 Welcome BBQ.

Unfortunately, our Principal Mr Lance Raskall has had to take some unexpected leave this term and I have been relieving as Principal, well supported by our Deputy Principals Ms Emily Skott, Ms Carmel Taylor and Ms Gina Kapeliotis. Mr James Ritchie has been relieving as Head Teacher Science while Ms Kapeliotis has been relieving in my Deputy Principal role. We look forward to Mr Raskall returning in Term Two.

I am incredibly pleased to report that our Year 7 students have settled extremely well into the high school routine, have been engaging enthusiastically and diligently with their learning across KLAs, participating meaningfully in our Peer Support Program and have already forged positive relationships with their new classmates, peers and teachers.

As always, our wonderful school has been a very busy place this Term. I would like to thank PD/H/PE for their successful organisation of our Swimming Carnival and for those staff involved in planning the many excursions and extracurricular activities that we offer to our students. I hope you enjoy reading about them in this Newsletter and as always you can follow along on our school’s social media pages for the highlights!

I would also like to extend my utmost congratulations to our Year 12, 2024 cohort who performed outstandingly well in the HSC achieving truly exceptional results. We are so very proud of them and know that they are going to go on to even bigger and better things and leave their world a much better place.

Lastly, I would like to commend our students for an amazing start to the school year. It has been incredibly pleasing to see them in full school uniform, engaging in learning, participating in extracurricular opportunities and maintaining respectful and positive relationships with one another in our inclusive school that I am delighted and humbled to work at every day.
