Senior Support Unit Students at their First Work Experience Program of 2025
Ms Regan, Head Teacher Support Unit — March 10, 2025
Welcome back to another exciting school year! As we step into 2025, we are thrilled to welcome both our old and new students, families, and staff back to our Support Unit.
This year promises to be filled with opportunities for learning, personal growth, and real-world experiences that will help our students build independence and confidence in our community.
A Focus on Real-World Learning
Our commitment to hands-on learning continues to grow, and we are excited to introduce new work experience opportunities for our students. One of the highlights so far this year has been our visit to Marrickville Fire Station as a part of the Work Experience Program. Our senior students had the chance to observe how a Fire Station functions on a daily basis and were also able to use the equipment such as the fire hoses, fire truck implements and first aid kits. We have also visited Marrickville Library to see how that community space works a place of employment.
Through the Work Experience program, we are teaching the students how to develop important life and job skills in a structured and supportive environment. The unique experiences will help our students develop responsibility, workplace etiquette, and essential skills—all while being part of new and exciting environments such as Scope and other workplace spaces.
Looking Ahead
As we move through the school year, we will continue to provide enriching experiences that support each student’s individual strengths and needs. Whether in the classroom, on the job, or in the community, our goal is to empower our students to reach their full potential for post-school life.
