Bligh Zone Swimming Carnival: A Day of Team Spirit, Personal Bests, and Regional Success

Ms Lukezic, Senior Sports Coordinator & PDHPE TeacherMarch 9, 2025

On the Monday, 24 February, 30 students from Years 7 to 12 made the trip to the Enfield Aquatic Centre to compete in the Bligh Zone Swimming Carnival.

These dedicated swimmers had earned their spots after finishing in the top 2 of their respective events at the school swimming carnival. With hopes high, they dove into the competition, aiming to qualify for the Regionals.

Though not all students made it to the Regionals, the day was filled with moments of pride, determination, and sportsmanship. Many swimmers demonstrated incredible personal effort in their individual events, with some achieving impressive personal bests. The energy at the pool was electric, as students cheered each other on in individual, medley and freestyle relays, showcasing their strong team spirit and unwavering school pride.

We are thrilled to announce that several students have successfully earned their places at the Regionals! Congratulations to Jacob S, Lily B, Zara K, Hannah T, Harrison B, Alicia C, Ari L, Annika H, Rui T, and Oliver W for qualifying in their individual races.

A standout moment came in the 16 years 4x50m freestyle relay, where Jacob S, Oliver W, Rui T, and Harrison B led their team to victory, securing first place and earning a spot at the Regionals. It’s worth noting that both Jacob and Harrison, although not yet in the 16-year age group, Jacob in Year 7 and Harrison in Year 9, competed against older swimmers and outperformed them by a significant margin. Their victory was a proud moment for our school, and a testament to their incredible skill and determination.

Congratulations to all involved. You should be very proud of your efforts!
