Recently, a group of Year 12 students were invited to attend the Inner West Council Police Awards Ceremony, an event that highlighted the work and dedication of law enforcement officers.

This excursion provided insights into the various contributions police officers make to their communities, as well as the diverse career pathways within the police force.

At the ceremony, students had the chance to witness firsthand the recognition of officers who went above and beyond in their service. Students were able to learn about the different roles and pathways within the police force.

The event also offered students an opportunity to ask questions and engage with officers, learning about the skills and qualifications required for a career in law enforcement.

Many officers shared their personal journeys with our students. Reflecting on the experience, Year 12 student Jae shared, “It was amazing to see the dedication of the officers and hear their personal stories. I didn’t realise how many different career paths there are within the police force.”

Brendan noted, “I enjoyed meeting various members of the police force, learning about their current focus areas, and gaining more insight into frontline responses to key issues facing our community.”

A big thank you to the Inner West Police Command and, in particular, Constable - Youth Officer Danny Cullen for giving our students a glimpse into the career opportunities within the field of law enforcement.
