P&C NEWS End of Term 1

P & C Dully High —

Term 1 has flown by so quickly. The P&C has had two Zoom meetings this term where we welcomed new families who are now part of the school, heard from the Principal about what's happening with students and new initiatives and discussed plans for the year. It's been wonderful to see new faces at these meetings. If you haven't made it along, look out for the notices about meetings next term. We encourage all parents and carers to take part and appreciate your support for the P&C events.

Welcome Wellbeing Talk

The P&C's traditional Welcome BBQ is being replaced with a Welcome Wellbeing Zoom Talk by Jono Nicholas from The Wellbeing Outfit. He gave an excellent talk last year about understanding the teen brain and now he's returning to share mental health strategies and wellbeing frameworks for parents and carers to assist them to support teenagers. It's one not to be missed.

The wellbeing presentation is Wednesday 27th April 6:30-8pm

The P&C is offering both tickets by donation of $10.00 and free to those who have financial challenges. We encourage you all to make the time, you don't even need to leave your home, and it will be worth it. To book, go to https://www.trybooking.com/BYQFZ.

This is a great opportunity to hear from one of Australia’s most prominent and passionate advocates for the mental health of young people. Jono was the CEO of ReachOut Australia, the leading digital mental health service for young people and their parents, from 2010 to 2018.

ELECTION BBQ HELP NEEDED

With a federal election likely in May, the P&C will need plenty of volunteers to help run the event. We're planning to put on a Democracy Sausage/Kofta/Haloumi event and this is an important fundraising opportunity for the P&C.

We'll need all hands on deck to run the BBQ and cake stall and make the most of the day.

Please look out for the volunteer call outs about how you can help.

Vouch for Lismore

Thanks to the generosity of our community and other school communities who contributed via our trybooking site, we raised $5070. The funds will be used for vouchers for local shops in the Lismore region such as Kmart, Lowes, Coles and Woolworths to help school families impacted by the recent devastating floods. These will be sent via registered post and will be distributed via the Principals of the Lismore area schools.

The schools are evaluating the needs and distributing the vouchers at the start of the next term. They will send a report as part of their thank you and due diligence to any of the organisations who are sponsoring them. This is an incredible outcome for the fundraising and we know the community will be extremely grateful especially with the recent repeat of the flooding.

Life Drawing Event Term 2

The Life Drawing class is set to go ahead. It's run by a former student of Dulwich High of Visual Arts & Design who is now a teacher at the National Art School. The evening will include a model, and some wine and cheese. This is a fun, informal class that we are hoping to make a regular event each term. The booking details will be shared in the next few weeks.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM UPDATE

The P&C building fund has allocated $10K for upgrades and will work with the school to proceed with the upgrades on the outdoor classroom.

A reminder we're on the look out for a landscape designer to assist with basic planning of plumbing and designing a simple outdoor structure for the outdoor classroom.

Please get in touch if you or someone you know could help out.

The P&C Art Exhibition

A reminder about the Never Far From The Tree exhibition where artists, textile makers, jewellery creators, photographers, designers, architects or furniture makers share their work with the community. The exhibition is held at the Seaview Gallery in August. Details on when to register your interest will be announced in an upcoming newsletter.
