Building location certificates
Building location certificates are now required for most building consents.
As mentioned in the last issue of Reinforce we have decided to adopt a process similar to one being used in Christchurch.
This requirement comes as result of several recent siting failures requiring very expensive rework for the building owner.
The process includes requiring a certificate from a surveyor confirming the building is in the correct location before building work will be approved to continue to the next stage.
Every building consent for a new structure will need to have the location and finished floor level confirmed. How confirmation is achieved will vary depending on the complexity of work, its location, planning rules and the methods available to confirm the location.
