You can apply online for most types of applications. The following tips will help you navigate the online process and provide the right information first time.

Applications will be rejected if information is missing.  

Most building consent applications require you to complete a check sheet. To help speed up our initial check make sure you provide the relevant information listed in the check sheet and the reference sections are filled in. 

When a building consent application is complete the 20 working day statutory processing clock starts (on the next working day). If you are asked to provide additional information this will delay the starting of the clock.

Tips and useful links:

• Most applications require you to be a registered user before you can sign in and get started.  
• You don't need to be a registered user to; request a property search, apply for an extension of time, upload site inspection related documentation or advise us about your exempt building work. 
• Before beginning the process check the type of information you will be asked in the online form.  
• All applications are preceded by a property search screen. This is to record the address of the property the application or notification relates to. 
• Applications for building consent require proof of ownership. We recommend you have this available before applying or we can order a record of title for you (just tick the box in the application form). 
• You need to advise us if you are acting as the agent on behalf of the owner.   
• It is really important to advise the year of construction in the application. This information appears on the code compliance certificate (CCC) and if incorrectly stated will cost to have it rectified and a new CCC issued.
