New kerbside bin displays

Head to your local library to see the new bins being added to DCC kerbside recycling and rubbish collection service later this year.

For several months, you’ll find displays of the bins plus banners and flyers providing more information at the City Library and Mosgiel Library. Further displays will rotate around the other DCC library sites (Blueksin Bay and Waikouaiti libraries until the end of January, then Port Chalmers and South Dunedin for February and March), and we’ve set one up in a vacant shop window at 190 George Street, too.

To help us all reduce waste to landfill and protect the environment, we’re adding food scraps/garden waste recycling and red-lidded rubbish bins to our kerbside service from 1 July 2024.

In March, April or May 2024, we'll deliver the two new kerbside bins, an information booklet, and a small kitchen bench top bin for gathering food scraps to all households on kerbside collection routes.

People will keep using their yellow-lidded mixed-recycling and blue glass recycling bins as usual. Everyone’s collection days will remain the same.

If these changes will create unavoidable difficulty for your members, clients or whānau, please ask them to check www.dunedin.govt.nz/kerbside-changes or help them to do so. People can use this webpage to find out what bins their household will receive, there are lots of FAQs and a feedback form.

They can also get in touch with the DCC on 03 474 4000.
