Comings and goings

Building Services Team —

Staff changes in Building Services.

Comings

Tony Denley joined the consent processing team in May. Tony comes to us with 15 years building experience along with diplomas in both construction management and quantity surveying. Tony initially worked remotely and finally got to see the team in person when we finally returned to the office after lock-down.

In our previous publication we mentioned that Amy Dinnington joined the building compliance team in April. Like Tony, Amy worked remotely and got to finally meet the team in June. Amy comes with a raft of experience having previously worked for the Christchurch City Council in this field.

A familiar face Mark McLay who has been away from the Council for approx.3 years is back working for us as a consent processing officer. Marks previous building control experience is a valuable asset to us.

Welcome back Mark and welcome to the team Tony and Amy.

Goings

Ian Rutherford made the decision to retire full time in May. Ian, a plumbing & drainage inspector who had been helping us out on occasion can now spend more time fishing and gardening.

Following over 18 years with the Council, Les Bell our Senior Plumbing & Drainage processing officer retired in August.

Whilst he was planning an overseas trip, this has been put on hold given the global pandemic and more local travelling is planned.

Administration officer Leah Day left us in July to join the Otago Regional Council as a consent officer.

Promotions

Ray Currie has recently been promoted to Senior Building Consent Officer specialising in plumbing & drainage. Ray has worked for us for 18 years and brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to the role.

Sahana Poojari has taken on the Senior Building Administration role. Sahana who originally worked for the building team at the Christchurch City Council has been with us for 2 years. Sahana is a great asset to the team.
