Brighton Gala Day - Free event

The Brighton Gala Day is a fun family day out. Head to the beach and enjoy live bands, stalls, big attractions, fun family activities and over 180 food and craft stalls.

Book Launch - North Otago Stories of People and Places

North Otago: Stories of People and Places by Violet Monteath-Walker with 60 articles in various newspapers mainly the Otago Daily Times, between 1950 and 1991.

Dunedin city celebrates two major festivals in the first week of February 2019

On the evening of Tuesday 5 February, the Chinese New Year of The Pig commences with a dragon dance parade from the Octagon to join musical performances at the Chinese Garden – including the traditional annual lion dance. Food trucks will be on-site to provide all kinds of tasty snacks and the Garden will be open from 7.00 pm for a gold coin entry. The grand finale will kick off at 10.00 pm.

Bring a picnic blanket and a sunhat to town on Wednesday 6 February: Waitangi Day will be celebrated on the upper Octagon with waiata and a band from 11.00 am, and hāngī will be available to purchase from 12.30 pm, with proceeds going to Araiteuru Marae. Nau mai, haere mai!

Thieves Alley Market Day – Saturday, 9 February, 10am to 4pm, FREE

200 stalls will be set up around the Octagon and Bath street, offering a variety of arts, crafts, clothing and plenty of food and entertainment.
