DCC City Development —

An update on the 2GP.

2GP Decisions Version updated with minor amendments

On Thursday December 13, a number of minor and inconsequential changes were made to the Decision Version of the electronic 2GP and Planning Map. These were made under clause 16(2) of Schedule 1 of the Resource Management Act 1991 allows a local authority to make an amendment to the 2GP where the alteration “is of minor effect, or may correct any minor errors” and also to provide clarification around the relationship between the 2GP and the National Environmental Standards for Plantation Forestry.

A report summarising these changes can be found on the 2GP website and a copy has been emailed to all 2GP submitters.

Appeals Version

In mid-January the DCC will release the appeals version of the 2GP. This will replace the electronic Decisions Version of the Plan. This version will highlight which rules are under appeal, and which can be deemed operative (as not subject to appeal). The plan will be updated through the appeals process as appeals are withdrawn or resolved.

Top Tips for using the electronic 2GP (ePlan)

On the 2GP website there are some guidance documents on how to use the Eplan and the 2GP maps . The following tips may be helpful when using the ePlan and maps.

Opening the plan in multiple web browser tabs

Opening sections of the 2GP in multiple web browser tabs can be very helpful when you want to flick between different sections of the 2GP without losing your existing location. To do this, right click on the web browser tab and select the ‘Duplicate’ or ‘Duplicate tab’ option. A new tab will open and the page will load with your current location in the 2GP.

If you want to look at content that is hyperlinked in a new tab, right click on the hyperlink and select ‘open in new tab’.

Returning to the 2GP Website Homepage

From any 2GP webpage, click on the 2GP logo in the black banner at the top of the page and it will return you to the 2GP website homepage. This will not work from pdfs, as these load as a new tab without the 2GP webpage banner at the top.

Pop-up Definitions

Activities and other terms that are defined in the 2GP appear in the plan text with a dotted line. Clicking on the term will bring up the definition in a pop-up box. Sometimes long definitions may not entirely display on your screen. Try scrolling down the page, using the right-hand scroll bar, so that the defined term is located at the top of the page. Then click on it again to bring up the full definition.

Changing the Basemap in the Planning Map

To display an aerial photo in the background of the planning map, click on the Basemap Gallery icon and select “Aerial Photo 2013”. This icon looks like a window symbol and is situated in the top right of the black banner at the top of the page.

Using Pop-up Boxes in the Planning Map

When you select a property in the map, a pop-up boxes appears. This pop-up box contains an overview of the mapping layers that relate to this particular property. In the black banner at the top of the pop-up box, you can click on the right arrow to scroll through the various layers that may apply to that property.

If the pop-up obscures any part of the boundary you are interested in, move the map so only a corner of the site you are interested in is visible, then click the site and drag the map so the whole site can be seen, and the pop-up should be away from the boundary you are interested in.

Searching for items in the Planning Map

As well as searching for a property in the search box at the top left of the map, you can also search for scheduled items and other items if you have the relevant number, such as D368 (Designation) or B504 (Heritage Building).
