H1 Energy Efficiency transition
This is one of the biggest energy efficiency updates to the Building Code in more than a decade and is being rolled out in a staged transition.
The latest milestone, on 1 May 2023, increases the insulation performance requirements for new housing. All building consent applications received after this date need to demonstrate compliance with the new Energy Efficient (H1) requirements.
