Making changes to a building consent

Building Services Team —

You can amend your building consent by applying for a full amendment or minor variation.

Helpful information is available on our website that will help you determine whether the change you want to make is an amendment or minor variation.

An application for an amendment is the same process as applying for a new building consent and must be formally approved by us before work can start.  Applications should only include plans for the changes you want approved and the proposed changes must be clearly identified. Page version numbers and dates should be updated and correct. Please do not include revision clouds from previously approved amendments.

Amendment applications can be applied for electronically using DCC Online Services or submitted to our office in hard copy.

Minor variation applications should not be submitted via DCC Online Services. However, if you wish to submit electronically, please email the application to building@dcc.govt.nz. Please make sure a completed minor variation application form accompanies the application.

Once we have approved your amendment/variation please make sure a copy is kept on site for the building inspectors.
