Upcoming events in Dunedin

On 13 April the Government announced changes to the COVID-19 Protection Framework.

These changes affect events and event organisers. New Zealand is currently in the orange traffic light setting.

At Orange

  • There will be no limit for outdoor gatherings.
  • There will be no limit for indoor gatherings.
  • You do not need to wear a face mask outdoors.
  • Other face mask rules remain unchanged.
  • There is no requirement to scan in or for a business to display a QR code poster or have mandatory record keeping.

Otago Addiction Forum

Aotearoa has high rate of imprisonment, 5th or 6th among 37 OECD countries, particularly of indigenous people, who comprise 52.9% of the total prison population and 65.6% of female prisoners, compared to about 18% of the nation.

The Heretic: In conversation with Liam McIlvanney

Join award-winning author Liam McIlvanney in gothic Dunedin as he discusses his latest novel, 'The Heretic'.

Following the events of 'The Quaker', the 2018 Scottish Crime Book of the Year, DI Duncan McCormack is back in Glasgow. Faced with a mysterious body in the Tradeston slum, and as more cases stack up, McCormack must find the perpetrator quickly if he wants to avoid another death, or all-out war.

The Red Cross Charity Art Auction 

The Red Cross Charity Art Auction is happening next Friday, organised by Steve King the Humanitarian Development Engagement Manager. All are welcome to attend (Koha-donation entry).

Red Cross is collaborating with Catherina Hadil from Arai te Uru Whare Hauora.  This can also be open to all women to attend who are keen to participate and tautoko (support). 

Mother's Milk, Mother's Wisdom

This is a short movie (27 minutes) being shown by the Dunedin Breastfeeding Network to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week (1 – 7 August). Join them for a chat in the Otago Museum café after, hot drink and a slice $6 for movie attendees.

Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust along with a sponsorship from OFS Insurance is proud to host Dr Tom Mulholland, who spent 25 years in emergency medicine and eight years travelling around New Zealand with his pop-up medical clinic, where he will discuss strategies to maintain physical and mental health in times of stress.

Volunteer Awards

The Volunteer Awards were established in 2021 as dedicated awards for recognising the enormous work that is done in the Ōtepoti community with volunteering.

This year, SBS Bank, Volunteer South, and Otago Community Trust have come together in partnership to meaningfully celebrate tūao | volunteers, volunteering and volunteer-involving organisations and community groups across Ōtepoti.
