Community Board Update - West Harbour
After a particularly wet and wild past few months, we’re looking forward to a more mild and enjoyable spring here in West Harbour.
The changing season is not the only thing we’re excited about as we celebrated the opening of the long-awaited shared path Te Ara Moana with Waka Kotahi. Having a safe and convenient walking and cycling route from Dunedin to Port Chalmers will be great for the community, commuters and visitors to our area as they make their way alongside our beautiful harbour.
You might even have seen some of the new seats and bins recently added along the way. There was an official opening and celebration of its completion.
The West Harbour Community Board has long been a strong advocate for the completion of the shared path, and the Chalmers Community Board before that, for around 20 years.
We’re here for the community, and one way the board has recently shown its support was by funding an art project by the Port Chalmers Foundry Society and schools to culminate in an exhibition here.
It’s great to see locals get involved with the arts and showcase the talents of our tamariki. The community board is here for you, so if you have any comments or suggestions, or if you’d like to find out more about how we work, feel free to get in touch.
