Earthquake-prone buildings update
It is anticipated that the development of processes and the profiling of potentially earthquake prone buildings will not commence until April 2020.
Because Dunedin is in a low seismic zone the Building Act provides a 15 year period (effective 1 July 2017) for the Dunedin City Council (DCC) to identify potentially earthquake prone buildings.
Seismic assessments can still be submitted to the DCC by emailing earthquakepronebuildings@dcc.govt.nz. However, these potentially will not be assessed by the DCC until after 1 April 2020.
